Welcome to Cats Protection Cherwell Branch

We’re here to support cats and kittens in the Cherwell area, covering postcodes: OX7, OX15, OX16, OX17, OX25, OX26, OX27 and NN13. 

Formed in 2006 and run by a small team of dedicated, cat-loving volunteers, we’re dedicated to improving the lives of cats and kittens in the Cherwell area covering Banbury, Bicester, Brackley, Chipping Norton and surrounding communities. We are supported by local fundraising and donations from generous members of the public locally and from around the World. 

Our team of volunteers aim to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home as many of the lost, unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens in the Cherwell Valley as possible. To accomplish this we undertake vital tasks such as trapping, fostering and socialising cats, as well as arranging for veterinary treatments for animals in our care and conducting home visits for prospective adopters.

We are always working to find loving new homes for local cats in our care.  We also offer support with neutering costs to owners in need, can help with lost and found cats, as well as provide general cat education and awareness within the Cherwell area. Cat adoption in Cherwell

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in the Cherwell area of Banbury, Bicester, Brackley, Chipping Norton and surrounding communities?

During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship.  Please note that we try to avoid cats being re-homed close to where they originated, so the potential location - address or area - will be considered as part of the adoption process.

To express your interest or request more information about a particular cat, please enquire via email at enquiries@cherwell.cats.org.uk.  Or alternatively, call us on our main number at 01869 908 308 or contact our dedicated homing volunteer at 07423 063 140.  Please give us as much detail about yourself, your property location, numbers of people and other pets in your household, etc. to help with the homing process.

Please note the following fees and what is included when adopting one (or more) of our cats - 

Cats and kittens over 6 months old - £90 
Kittens under 6 months old - £110 

All cats and kittens re-homed from Cherwell Cats Protection will have the following included with each adoption:

• Health Check
• Flea and worm treated
• Fully Vaccinated
• Microchipped and registered to the new owner
• Neutered or a neutering voucher -£45 for males, £60 for females- provided to go towards to cost of the operation
• 4 weeks Pet Plan Insurance

Volunteer at Cats Protection Cherwell Branch

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Cherwell Branch simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Banbury, Bicester, Brackley, Chipping Norton and surrounding areas, you'll enjoy practical benefits such as discounted pet insurance.

We have a variety of volunteer roles at Cherwell CP.  We are always in need of fundraising volunteers to help us at our many fun and fundraising events. Events which are vital in helping us raise the donations we need to run our branch.  

**Please note - we are looking now for a volunteer to sell items on Vinted or Ebay to help raise funds for our Cherwell Branch.  These are mainly items of clothing.  If you think you could help us, please send us an email at enquiries@cherwell.cats.org.uk

Our welfare team works hard throughout our catchment area to bring cats and kittens into our care.  They also run a trap, neutering and release program to help control feral colonies.  Our home fosterers, once fully trained, have the rewarding task of caring for cats and kittens in our branch's care until a new owner is ready to adopt.  Our social media volunteers have the important job of helping us to engage and communicate our work on various platforms.  And our re-homing team carries out home visits to access the suitability of a new home for cats ready to be adopted from our branch's care.  

**To support our welfare team, we are now in need of transport volunteers.  This team would help us out with running cats to and from the vets, as well as possibly collecting donations and delivering supplies within their local area.  Please send us an email at enquiries@cherwell.cats.org.uk if you are interested!  

These are just some of the volunteer opportunities we have at Cherwell Cats Protection.  We also have other behind-the-scenes volunteer opportunities that include secretarial, accounting and maintenance work just to name a few.  

As a busy branch, we are always so grateful to have as much or little time as our volunteers are able to give.
